Natascha & Benji

* All aboard to Germany *

Destination weddings are a dream come true for me. I’ve been so lucky to have been asked to capture weddings in Italy, Greece, Australia and now Germany (someone pinch me!). I especially love learning about all the different traditions within other cultures, it absolutely fascinates me. So to be asked to photograph it all and get right into all the details of these weddings does nothing but excite me! And here I was, packing all my gear up and heading off to Germany for a new photo adventure – but for one of my cousins, Benji, this time! I was SO excited!!

Benji and Natascha have had to endure a long distance relationship for quite a while, which involved a lot of train journeys to and fro to see each other. So as a fun twist, their wedding theme revolved around trains and journeys; the invites were train tickets, the wedding schedules were printed like train timetables, the tables at the reception were numbered wagons (carriages), the children’s favours were wooden trains and tracks… So it made total sense to have some photos of the newly weds on the train tracks in their hometown of Mosbach (where I was assured it was safe!)!

Benji and Natascha scheduled lots of time for their photos, which meant we were able to travel quite a bit around Mosbach, chauffeured by a brother of the Groom (another cousin of mine) in a rather nippy BMW! Lots of squeals from the bride later, we ended up at various wonderful locations for their photos… I was in my element!

When we arrived (in secret) at the reception venue, the guests were in their seats watching a video the couple had put together. It was a very funny documentary about how they met, which ended with a train announcement announcing their arrival into the building – the guests gave a huge cheer and in they came!

The reception was so lovely, and so different to that of a British one. They had a programme of events, which included acts, games, and musical performances made by their guests – so much talent was in that room, it was incredible.

We had such a lovely time welcoming Benji and Natascha into the world of married life, and wish them all the very best for the future 🙂
